Summer Camp from South Africa arrives in Zibo

　　Recently, a teacher-student exchange group from the Confucius Classroom at Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology in South Africa visited Zibo Experimental High School for the "Chinese Bridge" summer camp study tour, launching a cross-border cultural exchange journey spanning mountains and seas.

　　On behalf of all teachers and students, the principal of Zibo Experimental High School extended a warm welcome to the South African delegation, stating that the visit injected distinctive youthful vitality into the campus and built a precious exchange platform for young people from China and South Africa. At the opening ceremony, Zibo Experimental High School donated a set of Chinese language teaching materials to the Confucius Classroom at Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology, providing practical support for overseas students to learn Chinese and understand China. In return, the South African delegation presented a series of elaborately created paintings themed Mountains and Seas Connected, interpreting the friendship between the two schools through artistic language and expressing the good vision of cultural exchanges between China and South Africa. These affectionate paintings symbolize that despite being separated by vast oceans, the bond of friendship closely connects the two sides.

　　With the theme of Cultural Heritage and Chinese Life, this summer camp focused on cultural experience and language practice, offering a variety of immersive traditional Chinese culture courses. It enabled South African participants to approach Chinese civilization through hands-on creation and personal experience. In the creative class, students used recycled materials to make bamboo brushes by hand and wrote Chinese characters stroke by stroke on rice paper, appreciating the structural beauty and artistic charm of Chinese characters. Coinciding with the Dragon Boat Festival, participants also made wormwood health hammers and colorful blessing ropes under the guidance of teachers, experiencing the folk warmth of traditional Chinese festivals amid the fragrance of herbs and strands of colorful threads. Every experience deeply impressed the South African students, who all remarked that personal interaction and hands-on participation had given them a more comprehensive and authentic understanding of Chinese culture.

　　The successful holding of the "Chinese Bridge" summer camp represents a practical exploration of international Chinese language education and exchange, as well as a vivid practice of Zibo Experimental High School in promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. The event not only broadened the horizons of South African teenagers and deepened their understanding of Chinese culture, but also showcased the inclusive, enthusiastic and hospitable urban style and humanistic warmth of Zhangdian to the world.
