The wildlife breeding and rescue center of China's Hulun Lake National Nature Reserve Administration, which was established in 2013, is mainly responsible for wild animal rescue, breeding, protection, and scientific research in the reserve and Hulun Buir City.

Dou Huashan is a "guardian" of the wild animals in this center. He has worked in the center for 15 years. Dou said that the research on ecology and wild animals ultimately serves to support human survival, in other words, to find out how humans should get along with nature.

In 2020, the center received a total of 215 wild animals for rescue, with a success rate of 49.5 percent. This year as of the end of August, the center has already received 153.
