SDU President Zhang Rong Meets With President of KFAS Park In-kook

  On July 7, a delegation led by Park In-kook, President of Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS), paid a visit to Shandong University. SDU President Zhang Rong met with the guests.

  Zhang thanked KFAS for its strong support of SDU over the past many years. He briefly introduced SDU, as well as the exchange between SDU and South Korea, especially emphasizing some major projects such as the Project Global Collection and Compilation of Chinese Ancient Books, the Global Consortium for Chinese Studies, and the Nishan Forum held by the Collaborative Innovation Center of Confucian Civilization at Shandong University.

  "The two sides have kept a close cooperative relationship, and SDU is very supportive of jointly holding Shandong Forum with KFAS, which is in preparation now,” he said “ SDU hopes both sides will develop even higher levels of cooperative projects on this basis.”

  Park reviewed the exchange between KFAS and SDU, and expressed his hope to further discuss the details of the Shandong Forum. “Through the platform of cooperation of the Shandong Forum, KFAS will continue to discuss further cooperation with SDU,” he added.

  The Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS) was established in 1974 in order to promote national growth through academic development via cultivating world-class scholars. After establishment, KFAS selected excellent South Korean students, and prepared to send them to top institutions of higher education overseas. In addition, KFAS also offers a Classical Chinese Studies Program. KFAS has launched new international academic programs in 2000, to support famous experts from other parts of Asia to cooperate with South Korean scholars. Furthermore, KFAS also launched international programs like Asia Research Centers and International Forums, to increase mutual understanding and academic development in the Asian region.
