Shandong University Join Hands with Dalhousie University in Marine Science and Engineering

  On September 12, Richard Florizone, President of Dalhousie University, Canada, visited Shandong University (SDU). President of SDU Zhang Rong met with the delegation.

  During the meeting, Zhang said SDU was ready to cooperate with Dalhousie University in the field of marine science and engineering, as well as exchanges of staff, researchers, students and scientific information, etc.. By co-building the Marine Science Institute, SDU hoped to explore opportunities for cooperation with Dalhousie University in health care, advanced materials, marine equipment and social governance, accelerate the progress in existing cooperation by assigning project leaders, and carry out collaboration in relevant areas.

  Florizone introduced the development of Dalhousie University in its marine information science and engineering, material science and health science, etc.. He mentioned that Dalhousie University planned to perform the national research project in world-leading marine science in the west Atlantic. About 220 million Canadian dollars have been attained as the research fund, which aimed to promote international science and research cooperation in clean energy, material science and marine science. As an important partner, Dalhousie University was willing to contribute to SDU in marine science, in the hope that the two universities could jointly carry out research projects to promote common development and raise research levels.

  During the meeting, the two sides had an in-depth discussion about the ongoing “Marine Environment Stimulation System (MECS)” research project. The delegation also visited the museum and the Center for Research and Experience of Traditional Chinese Culture of SDU. Dalhousie University is one of the top universities in Canada and the most noted and largest university in Nova Scotia with a wide range of subjects and a history of nearly 200 years.
