Wucheng county is like a small courtyard, with tea and flowers, stands beside the Wei Yunhe. Its neighboring counties are those who share the same interests inherit the ancient Wei Yunhe pottery culture together...

Jiamaying Town, Wucheng County, Dezhou City, is located on the east bank of the Wei Yunhe. It was the former site of Dongyang County, which was established by Liu Bang, Emperor Gaozu of Han in the early Western Han Dynasty. Since ancient times, there has been a tradition of using local materials, mixing silt and clay from Wei Yunhe, to make household pottery products, which greatly facilitated people’s life. In this land with a long history of pottery, a humble pottery society stands by the river, silently carrying forward and inheriting the pottery culture of Wei Yunhe.

After drying, grinding and screening, the clay collected from the riverbed of the Wei Yunhe Canal returns to the state of soil with the moisture of water, becoming more delicate and sticky, but also endowed with a strong plasticity. In the hands of the potters, the clay shape is constantly changing, and smooth lines gradually appear. The spout and handle made in advance are gently glued to the dry greenware by the potter. With careful carving, an exquisite greenware is completed. After a long fire, the pottery is exposed to the air from the warm embers, and the fire gives the teapot a unique pattern.

History leaves scars on the earth, but the wisdom of our ancestors cannot be washed away under the storm. Pottery is the representation of the life of our ancestors and the confirmation of their existence. This gift from the ancient earth, up to now, is still the treasure and precious cultural heritage of people’s art of life.
