An Experience of Chinese Traditional Culture in “Children Village”,Issyk-Kul,Kyrgyzstan

  On July 1, local time, volunteers of international Chinese language teachers from the Confucius Institute of Bishkek National University entered the“Children Village” (Балдар айылы), Issyk-Kul with an interesting activity of Chinese culture, spending a warm and happy time with the children.

  Volunteer teachers brought paper-cut works from Liaocheng, Shandong Province and conducted a number of interesting handmade activities with the children, including paper-cut, origami, fan painting, hand-pasting and paper-making experience activities. Creating beautiful patterns and folding animals and flowers with scissors and paper, children there were all in high spirits and showed great creativity. They were especially fascinated by fan painting in which they showed their imagination and creativity, and each fan became a unique art piece. The children also used colorful sequins to collage pieces full of children's fun and imagination.The paper-making experience was eye-opening for the children who tried the ancient Chinese paper-making process themselves and appreciated the unique charm and fun of the traditional process.

  In addition, the volunteer teachers also brought a number of traditional Chinese games, which further narrowed the distance with the children. The children in the games including sandbags punching, shuttlecock kicking, rope skipping and eagle catching chicken felt the fun of sports and the importance of teamwork in laughter.Great fun has been brought to them by the accuracy of sandbags punching, agility of shuttlecock kicking, rhythm sensation, and the excitement of eagle catching chicken.

  This activity not only allowed the children to have a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, but also further enhanced the cultural exchanges and friendship between China and Kyrgyzstan.
