Recently, a unique Sino-Russian student calligraphy and painting exchange event was successfully held at the Novosibirsk State University in Russia. It attracted enthusiastic participation from numerous Chinese and Russian students, adding a vibrant touch to the cultural exchange between the two countries.

The venue was filled with the scent of ink as the Sino-Russian students engaged in deep interaction and communication around the theme of calligraphy and painting creation. Liu Wentong, a student from Shandong Yanggu, China, took the lead by wielding his brush and splashing ink with vigor and strength. His powerful calligraphy and profoundly meaningful traditional Chinese paintings showcased the unique charm of Chinese culture. On the other hand, Russian students, with their keen perception and bold use of colors, created uniquely styled paintings on canvas, bringing a different artistic flair.

"'The highest good is like water; virtue resides in the capacity to bear all things.' This phrase comes from Chapter Eight of 'Tao Te Ching' by Laozi. It means that if you reach the pinnacle of perfection, you are almost like a sage. If many people receive your help without you asking for anything in return, then your virtue is profound, and you can be considered highly virtuous and respected," explained Zheng Wentong to the Russian students present.

During the exchange, both sides not only shared their respective countries' painting techniques and art styles but also had heated discussions on topics such as cultural background and historical heritage. The structure and brushwork of Chinese calligraphy, the suggestive emptiness of traditional Chinese painting, and the color application and realistic style of Russian painting collided, sparking everyone's creative inspiration. Many students expressed that through this event, they gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of the cultures of both China and Russia.

This calligraphy and painting exchange event provided a platform for Sino-Russian students to showcase themselves and enhance friendship, further promoting the exchange and integration of the two countries' cultures. In the future, similar activities will continue to be held, enriching the extracurricular lives of international students and contributing more to the promotion of Sino-Russian cultural exchange.
