TIANJIN, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Sailors from coastal province Shandong of China took lead in the beginning rounds of all five matches at Dongjiang Bay at the 13th National Games here on Thursday.

The five matches, including the men's Finn, men's Laser, men's470, women's 470 and women's Laser Radial, started in a wind blowing afternoon.

As one of the new policies in China's sports reform implemented in the 13th National Games, athletes from different provinces and cities can join hands to form a new team of four or less competing in 10 sports. As for sailing, the policy is suitable in the men's and women's 470.

The Shandong-Zhejiang combination of Wang Chao and Xu Zangjun led by three points after two rounds of the men's 470, while another Shandong-Zhejiang pair of Lan Hao and Wang Wei ranked the second.

"The wind condition is quite nice today, we ranked the second but we are confidence to win the championship," said Lan, who won the gold medal of the men's 470 in the last Games.

However, he changed partner four years later. His then teammate was now pairing with the 2013 National Games' bronze medalist Xu Zangjun and they had been the top eight in the International Championships 2017.

The women's 470 also saw a pair from Shandong and Zhejiang taking the lead, as Wang Xiaoli and Gao Haiyan ranked the first in both rounds on Thursday.

In the men's Finn, men's Laser and women's Laser Radial, Gong Lei, Cui Yinsheng and Hu Xiaoyu respectively established their leads representing Shandong. Enditem
