Baotu Spring’s groundwater level makes new record

  Due to the influence of prior rainfalls and the flood season, which started recently, the groundwater level of Baotu Spring and Black Tiger Spring in Jinan achieved an incredible "five consecutive rises" with an impressive accumulative increase of 8 centimeters and 11 centimeters, respectively.

  According to the official statistical data, at 7 am on June 1, the groundwater level of Baotu Spring was 28.64 meters and the groundwater level of Black Tiger Spring was 28.63 m, both of which increased by 1 centimeter compared to the previous day.

  Since the first day of the flood season in 2002, the recorded highest groundwater level at Baotu Spring stood at 28.63 m, while the lowest was 23.43 m. Among them, only nine years witnessed groundwater levels surpassing the 28-m mark. These years include 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2022, showcasing the infrequency of such occurrences and the significance of the current water levels.

  The record of the highest water level in Baotu Spring on the first day of the flood season is related to the abundant rainfall of the past two years. Before this, the highest groundwater level of Baotu Spring exceeded 30 m for two straight years, breaking the record for the highest water level in Jinan since it first appeared in 1966.

  Notably, since July 7, 2022, the groundwater level of Baotu Spring has been consistently above 28.5 m, meaning that the "Spring water soars" spectacle has lasted for 330 days, creating a new record since 2002.
