Shandong ranks 4th in China’s Internet development index

Shandong ranks 4th in China’s Internet development index according to the blue books of World Internet Development Report 2021 and China Internet Development Report 2021 released at the 2021 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit on Sept. 26.

The China’s Internet development index covers 6 areas including the information infrastructure construction, innovation capacity, digital economy development, Internet application, cyber security and cyber governance. The top 10 provinces (cities) of this year’s development index are Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Fujian, Tianjin and Hubei.

The World Internet development index consists of 6 key elements:  infrastructure, innovation capacity, industrial development, Internet application, cyber security and cyber governance. The evaluation covers 48 countries and regions, including major economies and representative countries of Internet development on five continents. According to the results, the Internet development level of the US and China tops the world; the Internet development strength of European countries is relatively balanced, generally scoring high in the Internet development index; Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa has made improvement in their Internet development index. Among them , the US, China, the UK, Germany and Canada rank the top five.

The blue books released by China Academy of Cyberspace Studies since 2017 have attracted extensive attention both at home and abroad as an important research result of the World Internet Conference.
