Shandong publishes the list of the fifth batch of representative items of provincial intangible cultural heritage

Recently, Shandong Province published the list of the fifth batch of representative items of provincial intangible cultural heritage (95 items in total) and the extended list of representative items of provincial intangible cultural heritage (74 items in total). The list consists of 10 categories including folk literature, traditional music, traditional dance, traditional drama, quyi (traditional speaking and singing art), traditional sports, amusement and acrobatics, traditional art, traditional skills, traditional medicine, and folk customs.

Shandong is a province rich in intangible cultural heritage resources, with more than 1.2 million clues of intangible cultural heritage of various types surveyed across the province at present. It has a total of 8 items on the “Representative Lists of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” recognized by the UNESCO, 186 on the national list (ranking the second in the country in number), 1,073 on the provincial list, 4,121 on municipal lists, and 12,758 on county-level lists. It currently has 88 national-level inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, 429 provincial-level inheritors, 2,553 municipal-level inheritors, and 8,025 county-level inheritors.
