International youth experience traditional Lantern Festival activities in successful event held in Jinan

　　为进一步弘扬中华民族优秀传统文化，营造欢乐祥和的节日氛围，2月3日，由济南国际传播中心与济南凤凰国际社区共同主办的“国际友人闹元宵”之国际青年共同感受传统元宵节活动在社区活动角顺利开展，来自摩洛哥、肯尼亚、俄罗斯、加拿大、哈萨克斯坦的5名外国友人与社区居民一同体验制作花灯、猜灯谜、品尝元宵等传统民俗活动，大家欢聚一堂，共度佳节。

　　In order to further promote the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation and create a joyful and peaceful festival atmosphere, on February 3rd, the "International Friends Celebrate Lantern Festival" event, jointly organized by Jinan International Communication Center and Jinan Phoenix International Community, was successfully held at the community activity corner. Five foreign friends from Morocco, Kenya, Russia, Canada, and Kazakhstan joined the community residents to experience traditional folk activities such as making lanterns, guessing riddles, and tasting tangyuan (sweet glutinous rice balls). Everyone gathered together to celebrate the festival.

　　摩洛哥青年、山东建筑大学留学生Hamza表示，他刚刚来到济南两个月左右，从来没参加过这样的活动，能参与这项活动非常兴奋，也认识了很多新朋友。Hamza在现场说：“我之前在家乡参与过灯笼制作的流程，但今年是第一次在中国过元宵节，跟大家一起做花灯，很开心！”

　　Hamza, a young man from Morocco and a student at Shandong University of Architecture, said that he had only been in Jinan for about two months and had never participated in such an event before. He was very excited to be able to participate in this activity and also made many new friends. Hamza said on the spot: "I have participated in the process of making lanterns and tasted tangyuan in my hometown before, but this is my first time celebrating Lantern Festival in China. I'm very happy to make lanterns and taste tangyuan together with everyone!"

　　除此之外，外国友人还深入了解了元宵节这一中国传统节日的来历和与之相关的民俗文化活动，猜灯谜就是其中之一。本次活动将传统字谜与当代社会生活结合在一起，在设计谜面时把中国文化、地理、非遗、传统民俗等元素融入其中，以增加外国友人对中国文化的了解和认同。猜谜活动受到了社区居民和外国朋友的热烈欢迎，大家纷纷参与其中，体验元宵习俗。

　　In addition, foreign friends also gained an in-depth understanding of the origin of the Lantern Festival, a traditional Chinese festival, and the folk cultural activities related to it, with guessing riddles being one of them. This event combined traditional Chinese culture, geography, intangible cultural heritage, and traditional folk customs in designing riddles to increase foreign friends' understanding and recognition of Chinese culture. The riddle-guessing activity was warmly welcomed by community residents and foreign friends, and everyone enthusiastically participated to experience Lantern Festival customs.

　　传统的元宵民俗活动中，蕴含着中国人独有的浪漫。重温民俗经典，近距离感受传统中国手工艺的独特魅力，是国际传播重要的课题。此类活动在增进双方感情、融洽社区氛围的同时，还可以有效提升中外友人对中华民族文化的认同感。

　　Traditional Lantern Festival folk activities contain unique Chinese romance. Reviewing folk classics and experiencing the unique charm of traditional Chinese handicrafts up close is an important topic for international communication. Such activities can not only enhance the relationship and harmonious community atmosphere between both sides but also effectively increase the sense of identity of Chinese culture among international friends.
