Paper Cutting captivates the world

　　Recently, intangible cultural heritage paper-cuttings from Dingtao were distributed to customers at a restaurant in Sofia, Bulgaria. This activity was organized by Zhang Xuan , a cultural exchange envoy from Dingtao, Heze, Shandong.

　　“Paper cutting is a kind of folk art that involves cutting or carving patterns on paper by scissors or knives, and is used to decorate daily life or complement other folk activities.The subjects of folk paper cutting mainly include Chinese character patterns, creatures, landscapes, historical allusions and so on, which not only represent popularly favored items, but also reflect folk’s longing for a better life” ,Zhang Xuan introduced the origin and connotation of Chinese paper cutting culture to the customers, lifting up a paper cutting.

　　“These paper cuts are very beautiful. It’s hard to imagine what kind of skillful hands could create such exquisite works. The flowers and birds on the paper are so lifelike. I really feel lucky to receive such an amazing gift today,” said Anna, a customer dining in the restaurant .

　　“I feel honored to introduce our intangible cultural heritage from Dingtao,Shandong to the foreign friends during this trip to Bulgaria. As a cultural exchange envoy from Dingtao, I will seize more opportunities to promote our excellent traditional Chinese culture to international friends, hoping they will fall in love with China and Chinese outstanding culture,” said Zhang Xuan.
