Dingtao District Opens Mid-Autumn Festival Culture Classes at Bulgarian High School

  On September 20th, local time, Dingtao District, Heze City, Shandong Province, China, opened a Mid-Autumn Festival cultural classroom at Sofia 138 Middle School in Bulgaria, showcasing the charm of Chinese culture and the essence of the Mid-Autumn Festival through mooncakes, Mid-Autumn Festival poems, paper cutting, etc., allowing Bulgarian teenagers to taste the sweetness from the East and receive blessings from the traditional Chinese festival.

  In the class, teacher Sylvia first gave her students a detailed introduction to the origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival in China, as well as traditional customs such as eating mooncakes and moon-gazing, and the beautiful meanings they embody, such as "reunion and happiness" and "harmony and coexistence." She also explained the calligraphy of Mid-Autumn Festival-themed poems sent from Dingtao District, Heze City, Shandong Province, interprets the Chinese people's love for the Mid-Autumn Festival, leading Bulgarian students to step into the beautiful realm of Chinese poetry and truly feel the festive atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

  During the interactive session, teachers shared with the students from Bulgaria from Dingtao District, Heze City, the Mid-Autumn Festival mooncakes and traditional paper-cutting from Dingtao. The exquisite and delicate Chinese mooncakes and vividly-detailed blessing paper-cuts were like works of art, delighting the Bulgarian students and earning them rave reviews. Liliya, a student, told us, "The mooncakes come in different flavors, such as red bean paste, egg yolk, jujube paste, and peony flower paste. Each one is a surprise."

  It is reported that this activity is a powerful exploration by the Dingtao District of Heze City, Shandong Province, China, to deepen cooperation in the field of education with its international friendship city, Sofia, Bulgaria, by using the traditional Chinese festival of Mid-Autumn Festival as a vehicle.
