Between September 20th and 22nd, the 11th "Asia Fest" in Romania was held at the National Stadium in Bucharest. Delegations from various Asian countries, including China, Indonesia, South Korea, and Thailand, gathered at the event to showcase their unique cultural and artistic traditions. Under the guidance of the Heze Municipal Propaganda Department, the Dingtao District Propaganda Department, in collaboration with the Bucharest University Confucius Institute, created a special zone featuring peony themes at the event site. Through traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage such as calligraphy, painting, rope weaving technique, and paper cutting, told the story of Chinese peony culture and showcased the charm of Heze peony.
At the event, vibrant and colorful paintings and calligraphy of peony, as well as the unique and exquisite craftsmanship of peony intangible cultural heritage, attracted many overseas citizens to stop by the Chinese cultural booth. The Antena reporter from the mainstream TV station in Romania conducted live coverage of the event, and Su Yu, the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Bucharest, introduced the Heze peony paper-cutting and peony rope weaving.
During the art performance segment, seven teachers and students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Bucharest in Romania appeared in traditional Chinese clothing, including Heze Hanfu, Ma Mianqun, and Peony Qipao, which drew the attention of many onlookers who took photos. Many people expressed their desire to try on Heze Hanfu and experience the beauty of Chinese clothing.
It is reported that the display of peony culture at the Asian Cultural Festival in Romania 2024 is another powerful exploration by Heze City to build a bridge for the world to perceive and understand China along the Belt and Road. This will lay a solid foundation for the establishment of the Peony Cultural Overseas Propaganda Station - Romania Station in the future, which will help promote the peony culture and Chinese culture to the world.
