Dingtao, Shandong: Peony Culture Empowers Chinese Brands to Expand Globally

  Recently, at the 2025 Tokyo International Food Exhibition held in Japan, Heze Jiahong Dehydrated Vegetable Company, located in Dintao District of Heze City, Shandong Province, garnered significant attention through its distinctive cultural presentation. As a prominent leader in Heze's agricultural sector, Jiahong not only exhibited high-quality dehydrated vegetable products but also showcased the "Heze Peony" on the international stage by leveraging national intangible cultural heritage as a medium.

  At the exhibition, not only were the company's series of participating products displayed, conveying the sustainable development concept of "regenerative agriculture",Additionally, a dedicated interactive zone was established to highlight peony culture, featuring intangible cultural heritage items such as Dingtao paper-cutting ("Prosperous Peonies"), hand-painted peony folding fans, and gourd engravings. By ingeniously integrating peony elements into dehydrated vegetable products, the company successfully attracted merchants from Japan, South Korea, and other regions. Ms. Li Jialing, the company’s director, stated, "We have incorporated peony motifs into our corporate VI system, transforming each package of dehydrated vegetables into a cultural ambassador." During business discussions, Ms. Li emphasized the promotion of Heze peony culture and invited international merchants to participate in writing peony-themed postcards. A British buyer, Ms. Miller, remarked, "The fusion of peony art with modern food technology is truly innovative and inspiring. I am eager to visit the Heze peony industry in person." Throughout the exhibition, over 200 peony-themed postcards were distributed, reaching merchants from more than 40 countries.

  This "Peony Plus" strategy not only demonstrates the technological capabilities of Chinese agricultural enterprises but also firmly establishes the cultural symbolism of Heze peonies within the international market. Ms. Li Jialing stated, "Our goal is not only to allow the world to experience the unique flavors of Heze, but also to enable the aesthetic values of prosperity and auspiciousness embodied by peonies to permeate globally through the subtlety and elegance of Chinese culture."
