On April 20, 2025, a delegation from the Russian Pet Products Purchasers Alliance arrived in Caoxian County, Heze City, Shandong Province, conducting an on-site inspection of Zhongyu Pet Food (Heze) Co., Ltd. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on pet food trade and reached a consensus on long-term strategic cooperation, marking a significant milestone for Zhongyu Pet Food in expanding its global market presence.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhongyu Pet Food (Luohe) Co., Ltd., Zhongyu Pet Food (Heze) was established in July 2022 with a registered capital of 3 million RMB. Located in Fucheng Industrial Park within Caoxian Economic Development Zone, the company specializes in researching, developing, processing, and selling pet food and supplies. In 2023, it invested 150 million RMB to launch a smart production base expansion project, constructing a 19,461-square-meter modern factory equipped with 103 sets of advanced international production facilities, all now fully operational. Built in strict compliance with China’s export food production standards, the new facility meets quality regulatory requirements of key markets including the U.S., EU, and Russia. Certified under the HACCP food safety management system, it has established a full-chain quality control system—from raw material procurement to finished product delivery—featuring microbial monitoring in sterile clean workshops and a visual intelligent detection system to ensure batch-by-batch traceability, guaranteeing safe and reliable pet food for global customers.

During the visit, the Russian delegation toured the company’s raw material pretreatment workshop, automated production lines, quality control laboratory, and warehousing logistics center, highly praising its hardware facilities, manufacturing processes, and quality management system. In the subsequent discussion, Li Hua, General Manager of Zhongyu Pet Food, detailed the company’s product portfolio, production capacity planning, and export strategy, noting that the Caoxian factory, as the group’s core northern production base, has an annual capacity of 50,000 tons of high-end pet main food and snacks. The company plans to focus on developing natural grain-free diets, functional snacks, and other products tailored to the Russian market.A Russian representative stated, “Zhongyu Pet Food’s large-scale production capacity and stringent quality control align perfectly with our long-held procurement philosophy of ‘safety, quality, and sustainability.’Against the backdrop of rising Sino-Russian agricultural trade, our cooperation holds broad prospects.”

Following thorough negotiations, both sides signed a long-term cooperation memorandum, planning deep collaboration in categories such as pet main food and freeze-dried snacks, covering customized product development, supply chain coordination, and market promotion. Under the agreement, Zhongyu Pet Food will serve as a key Chinese supplier for the Russian side, ensuring stable product supply to its chain supermarkets and e-commerce platforms.

This partnership not only represents a critical breakthrough for Zhongyu Pet Food in its international market expansion but also highlights the global competitiveness of Caoxian’s pet industry cluster. In recent years, Caoxian has leveraged its complete agricultural and by-product processing chain and policy support to attract multiple pet food enterprises, forming a full industrial ecosystem spanning raw material cultivation, production, processing, and cross-border trade. Zhongyu Pet Food’s international layout will inject new momentum into the region’s high-quality economic growth.

As the global “pet economy” continues to thrive, Sino-Russian cooperation in pet food is set to become a new growth driver for bilateral trade. The collaboration between Zhongyu Pet Food and Russian partners demonstrates the company’s strength and serves as a model for Chinese pet food brands “going global.” Moving forward, both sides will use this partnership as a foundation to explore niche pet food markets and elevate Sino-Russian cooperation in the pet industry to new heights.
