Shuiniu Li Village harbors a legend about a divine buffalo associated with a water bay. In the water bay at the west end of the village, it is said that there lives a golden divine buffalo. When the night falls silent, its long, low moo can often be heard, like the soft sound of moonlight falling on the water's surface.
This divine buffalo is extremely compassionate. Seeing that the poor in the village lacked buffaloes for plowing, it would quietly appear to help. Whenever a family heard that moo at night, they would find their fields neatly plowed in the morning, with faint hoof prints left in the newly turned soil. Over time, the divine buffalo became the "guardian" in the hearts of the villagers.
As time ripples on, the figure of the golden buffalo has gradually become hazy in memory, but the warmth of "a buffalo coming to help at night" has long been woven into the texture of the village. It hides in the morning dew on the field ridges, reflects in the bright eyes of children when they listen to the story, and has become the softest cultural mark of Shuiniu Li Village, endowing every thought of hometown with a touch of divine tenderness.
