Liu Jiafang

Liu Jiafang, a small village tucked away in the folds of time, has an interesting tale tinged with imperial aura. The Liu clansmen in the village are said to share the same ancestry as Liu Yong, a renowned minister of the Qing Dynasty. Back in the day, after Liu Yong received a silk lantern as an imperial gift from Emperor Qianlong, he passed this honor on to his clansfolk in Liu Jiafang. That gilded and colorfully painted silk lantern thus became a sacred object cherished by the entire village. In the flickering light of the lantern, one could see the clan's origins and a secret pride linked to the imperial court.

Today, that silk lantern has long been lost in the river of time, yet the story of that imperial gift, with its lingering warmth, is like the water from the old well at the village entrance—tasting more flavorful with each sip. It flows through the blood of the clansmen, hides in the casual chats during summer evening gatherings, and is etched into the weathered beams and columns of the ancestral hall. This small village, thus, remains connected by a wonderful fate to a historical figure, growing more vivid and lively as the story is passed down from generation to generation.
