By the banks of the Yellow River lies Yanma Village, a place that harbors a legend flowing through a thousand years. According to legend, during the Northern Song Dynasty, Zhao Kuangyin, Emperor Taizu of Song, once drilled his troops and fed his horses here. The clanging of golden spears and iron steeds pierced through the ages, eventually condensing into the two characters "Yanma" (Drilling Horses), becoming an indelible birthmark of the village.
Today, the sounds of bugles and barracks in Yanma Village have long faded away, yet the genes of that past event have long since transformed into the soul of the village. The annual rings of the old pagoda tree enclose the cold glint of armor; the grains of the stone stele at the village entrance inlay the warmth of stories; even in the sounds of gongs and drums during festivals, there seems to be a faint trace of the passion from "drilling horses". It has brewed the grandeur of golden spears and iron horses into the calmness of cooking smoke, and with the tranquility of daily life, gently tells the past cherished by time to everyone who sets foot here.
